Louise Piper
Many Fenton artists honed their skills under Louise Piper's watchful eyes. They fondly recall her as a demanding teacher and a talented, good-humored artist.
In 1920, young Louise watched the German glass decorators on her way to school. Soon she worked part-time for the Jeannette Shade and Novelty Company. For more than 40 years, she decorated at plants in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. In 1968, she started our own decorating department.
Louise retired in 1989 and passed away in 1995. Collectors eagerly seek the decorations she designed, and pieces with her signature are prized.
