Cameo carving is a a painstaking process. After the glass has been annealed, a special mask is taped to the surface of the glass. Using an advanced vignetting technique, each piece is carefully sandcarved, by hand, using aluminum oxide crystal under pressure to take away some of the surface. Great individual skill and experience are needed to control this operation, as many distinct stages of successive cameo carving are required to create the remarkable depth and the intricate details. The minimum silent auction bid is $500 To place a silent auction bid contact Fenton Gift Shop customer service. To reach them by email service@fentongiftshop.com or you can call toll-free 1-800-319-7793 ext. 383 or 327. Fenton Gift Shop Exclusives...

Several Fentons fell hard for
sculptor Suzi Whitaker's new figurine mould, so each of these adorable
youngsters bears the signature of a Fenton family member. As you can see,
each Fenton Foal sports its own color and a distinctive handpainted
decoration as well. 05057DU 4" Autumn Gold Foal (Nancy Fenton) 05057DJ 4" Black Foal (George Fenton) 05057D3 4" Madras Pink Foal (Lynn Fenton) 05057DQ 4" Indigo Blue Foal (Scott Fenton) 05057DP 4" Fern Green Foal (Shelley Fenton) 05057DW 4" Aubergine Foal (Mike Fenton) In the Fenton Sample Room this Week 1992 Handpainted Dark Burmese Vase Bid Now (eBay) This dark Burmese vase with handpainted rose decoration stands 4-1/2" tall and has a great story to tell. Scheduled to be sold on QVC in 1992, vases like this were handpainted and put into our decorating lehr to be fired. The lehr got a bit too hot, so most of the vases got greatly distorted and had to be discarded. This one just slumped right straight down and its Burmese color got much, much darker. This vase was handpainted by "M. Wagner" and is inscribed with Bill Fenton's signature (see p. 42-O of the book Fenton Glass: Especially for QVC to see what this vase should have looked like!).
