This beautiful 8-1/2'' Buttercup Overlay Vase features handpainted florals and a hovering bumblebee by award-winning Fenton designer Kim Barley. The mould originated at Cambridge Glass and was first made as a cocktail shaker.

For more than half a century, overlay colors have been produced by Fenton. Typically, a core of Milk Glass is gathered and shaped by a skilled glassworker called a Blocker. Then, a layer of colored glass,
in this instance, Buttercup, is gathered over the Milk Glass. Our
glass technologists make sure the two layers of glass match perfectly, expanding and contracting at the same rate. . .
as you can see, the end result is beautiful!

This 4-1/2'' Ram's Head Candlestick mould
originated at the Cambridge Glass Co. in the 1920s, and is  handcrafted in Buttercup glass. Buttercup is a vibrant yellow hue made with special ingredients that captures the warmth of sunshine and the excitement of nature's awakening.

However, due to a large increase in the cost of the rare earth mineral that created this Buttercup color, we curtailed production once our supply of the mineral was depleted.
