Designed by renowned cameo artists Kelsey
Murphy and Robert Bomkamp,
this 105 Years of Glass vase is handcrafted in our rich
Ruby glass and covered with pure Milk Glass, using demanding
techniques applied by Fenton's skilled glassworkers. We’re
sure that the remarkable cameo carving on this vase captures
the very essence of Fenton Art Glass.
Cameo carving is a a painstaking process. After the glass has
been annealed, a special mask is taped to the surface of the
glass. Using an advanced vignetting technique, each piece is
carefully sandcarved, by hand, using aluminum oxide crystal
under pressure to take away some of the surface. Great
individual skill and experience are needed to control this
operation, as many distinct stages of successive cameo carving
are required to create the remarkable depth and the intricate
details.
Cameo artists Kelsey Murphy and Robert Bomkamp used
photographs of glassworkers and decorators at work in our
plant. Our original intent was to produce this "105 Years of
Glass" vase as a numbered limited edition to be sold on QVC,
but our plans changed when Kelsey and Bob created another
design that we subsequently produced as our "Artistry" vase
and offered through Fenton dealers (these are sold out!).
Kelsey and Bob continued to work on their "105 Years of Glass"
concept, and we ultimately produced just 25 of these very
special vases. Just ten vases now remain in our inventory!

C8812FH - Cameo Carved 105
Years of Glassmaking Vase $1,275 + FREE Shipping/Handling
and Payment Plan!
Each time you look upon this vase, you’ll
discover dramatic details and subtle shading. You’ll marvel at
the
perspective and depth inherent in cameo carved art glass. The
105 Years of Glass vase depicts traditional
glassmaking—gathering, pressing, blowing, and finishing—as
well as the art of the decorator and the cameo carver. These
are the people whose skills and talents have made Fenton Art
Glass famous worldwide. The people depicted on this vase
were longtime Fenton employees, including Chris Carpenter, Ron
Dick, Alice Farley, Dave Fetty, Carol Griffiths, and
Frank Workman. Each vase is numbered and has ''105 Years of
Glass'' with the Fenton script "F'' and the signatures of
Kelsey and Robert inscribed on the bottom (see photo above).
Going, going, gone... don't miss an opportunity to own a piece
of history from Fenton Art Glass!

Celebrate the Art of Glassmaking with Dave Fetty's Pulled
Feather Vase.
. .
|
This beautiful 6'' Offhand Vase
was created by master glass artisan Dave Fetty. Dave revisited
one of his favorite
off-hand decorative techniques, Pulled Feather, which
he learned when he worked with Robert Barber in the mid-1970s.
Milk Glass and Opaque Lavender are the perfect background for
the hand-applied threading that is transformed into
"feathers" with special tools in Dave's skilled hands. The
technique requires both sharp eyes and steady hands to create
the desired effect. These selections are ''slightly
irregular'' production
samples and will vary in size and
color. Each vase has Dave's personal stamp on the bottom (see
photo at right). No two will be alike. These vases
are being offered, while supplies last, as the
special price
of $117.00.
