For more than half a century, overlay colors
have been produced by Fenton. Typically, a core of colored
glass
is gathered and shaped by a skilled glassworker called a
Blocker. Then, a layer of another color of glass is gathered over the
core. Our glass technologists assure that the two layers
of glass will match perfectly, expanding and contracting at
the same rate. As you can see, the result in this instance is
lovely. Perfect to display on your tabletop with or without an
arrangement!

Just days Remain to help Kickstart glassmaking
at Fenton. . .
The USGlass mould catalog project will only run if
the $50,000 needed to "kickstart" this venture is raised by
7 p.m. EDT on Monday, May 20. . . less than ten days away!
As of the writing of this newsletter, just a small percentage of
this amount has been
funded, so your help is still needed to ''spread the word'' and get our
skilled glassworkers back to creating beautiful glass!

USGlass continues to raise funds for the restart of production.
An online catalog of Fenton moulds
is a first step in resuming glass
production at the Fenton factory in Williamstown. However,
to kickstart this process and to provide
useful information to the glass collector community, USGlass initiated
a unique project on
Kickstarter.com for
the compilation of an online catalog of the more than 10,000
Fenton moulds, including those from other companies. Please
share this link. . . and help continue a glassmaking legacy! All
