Valentine's Day is about a month
away, and we have excellent glass gift ideas for that special
someone in your life. Our featured item is this beautiful
Heart Optic Basket, handcrafted in Ruby Opalescent glass. Fewer
than two dozen of these baskets remain at the factory, so don't
delay placing your order!
Fenton's heart optic is unique in
the history of glassmaking. No one else has made this motif in
opalescent glass. Introduced in the 1950s, heart optic was also
made in a few special pieces during 1985 for the Fenton Glass
Collectors of America. Heart optic returned to the regular product
line in 1992 as a ''heartwarming'' gift idea for Valentine's Day
or Mother's Day.
The key to creating pretty hearts in
blown glass is to match the size of the optic mould with the size
of the piece to be made. If the optic mould is too small, the
hearts stretch into blurred shapes when the glass is blown into
its finished shape.
The basket has the signature
handler's mark on each side of the applied fine rib twisted
crystal handle. The handler's mark is distinctive and identifies
the artisan who created the basket. Collectors enjoy adding their
favorite basket handler's creations to their collection. The
skilled basket handler has about 25 seconds within which he must
accomplish the following: attach a glowing ribbon of molten glass
to one side of the basket; deftly twist the rapidly cooling glass;
stick it to the other side; impress the base of each side of the
handle with his handler's mark, and finally, fashion the handle
into a graceful arch.

of our selections. Each bead has a
Sterling Silver core (approx. 3/16'') embossed with
Fenton USA.
Because of the handmade process, Fenton bead sizes range from
1/2'' to 5/8'' in diameter. The Teardrop earrings range from 3/4''
to 1'' in length.
The handpainted bead designs are by Truda Mendenhall. Lacy
Hearts features delicate hearts with baby's breath floral
accents on Rosalene glass. Sweetheart Roses features
delicate roses encircling a Milk Glass bead. Pair with our
