Nobody does lamps like Fenton!
Handcrafted in Lotus Mist Burmese, this beautiful 22-1/2'' Bell
Lamp features a handpainted design by Michelle Kibbe of a stylized
butterfly resting on a flower stem. Michelle added accents on the
leaves with Antique Gold Foil paint. The high quality hardware
base features a dark finish called Old English.
Burmese is one of Fenton's classic colors and Lotus Mist Burmese
is a beautiful variant of that hue. Company President George
Fenton wanted to see if our skilled craftsmen could make an opaque
green with a glass batch containing pure gold which would create a
delicate pink when the piece was reheated. George and Nancy Fenton
worked closely with Wayne King, our chemist, to develop Lotus Mist
Burmese, which debuted in our Fenton Historic Collection in 2000.
The formula for Lotus Mist Burmese includes a chromium compound
which gives the glass the green color. Opaque green colors have a
long history in glass, but, to the best of our knowledge, Lotus
Mist Burmese is a genuine innovation
—
the very first made from a heat-sensitive glass batch containing
gold to create a soft pink blush!
