Fenton USA Presents. . . New Handcrafted Baskets for 2010!

Nobody does baskets like Fenton Art Glass! Fenton started creating baskets in the late 1930s. Attaching basket handles requires a great deal of skill. There's less than 30 seconds to attach and shape a handle before the glass cools down and is no longer workable. In the 1950s, company President Frank M. Fenton and his brother Bill Fenton, who was Vice-President, decided that each Fenton basket handler should have a distinctive mark so that collectors could identify the artisan who created their basket. These marks are impressed at the base of each side of the handle. We currently have five skilled basket handlers at Fenton. Shown below are their handler's marks. Featured above are some of our new baskets for Spring 2010. Click on each image for details or, to view more Fenton baskets, click here. To learn more about our basket handler marks, click here.

A Hint of Spring
from Fenton USA

Our 10'' Basket in Spring Song on Robin's Egg Blue features a design by Kim Barley that captures one of the sure signs of Spring in our part of the country, the American Robin. The bird is shown perched on a tree branch filled with newly opened Spring buds! The basket has a six-point Lily crimp and square twisted handle. The Robin's Egg Blue basket in this picture features Butch Wright's bulls-eye design handler's mark.

The newest addition to our family of blue glass hues, Robin's Egg Blue will add just the right touch of color to any area of your home. Group handpainted Spring Song items with unadorned pieces for an effect that will delight one and all. Click on the image for details
