Here's some Fenton Hobnail history. In the mid-1930s, Fenton produced Hobnail pieces for two customers: Lamp founts for a lighting company and barber bottle reproductions for the L. G. Wright Glass Company. A perfume manufacturer rep noticed the L. G. Wright barber bottle in our Chicago rep's office. They wanted
this unique look designed as a perfume bottle. Frank L. Fenton designed a bottle
that could be fitted with a wooden stopper. The resulting Wrisley Perfume Bottle
sold very well.

By the early 1940s, Frank L. Fenton had created our company's fledgling No. 389 Hobnail line, which included baskets, bon bons, bowls, and several other pieces. Most of these were offered in French Opalescent, Blue Opalescent and Topaz Opalescent, as well as Cranberry Opalescent (Cranberry Red). New items were
added in the 1940s and 50s, and our Milk Glass Hobnail was also very successful.
In the 1960s and 70s, Hobnail was produced in different treatments, ranging from transparent or opalescent colors to vivid opaques and some iridized versions.

Dave Fetty Mosaic Masterpieces!
We only have one each of these two magnificent Mosaic Swirl vases handcrafted by master glass artisan Dave Fetty. The X745724 Mosaic Swirl Vase measures approx. 4'' tall and 5'' diameter at its widest point. The inside is a dramatic dark Ruby color.

Dave likes the mosaic treatment to be vivid
with lots of red, green and yellow frit, and he embellishes it with random threading. The
second vase, X74571N, features the mosaic
swirl inside the vase as well as on the outside. More steps are required in the glassmaking process in order to achieve this unique treatment. Each vase is embossed with the personal stamp of Dave Fetty ("DLF Fenton") to give credit to the skilled gentleman who created these pieces for us to enjoy and cherish.
