Fenton
fans raise over $2,500 to benefit ALS Association!
WILLIAMSTOWN, W.Va. — Fenton Art Glass Company is abuzz over
response to the one-of-a-kind Black Rose Basket recently auctioned
to benefit ALS Association, resulting in a donation of over $2500.00. The
Fenton family chose this unique piece to auction exclusively on
eBay for the ALS Association as ALS Association is the only national
non-profit voluntary health organization dedicated solely to the
fight against ALS. Often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease,
amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive
neurodegenerative disease that attacks nerve cells and pathways in
the brain and spinal cord. There is no known cure for ALS.
The unique Black Rose Basket, bearing a bumblebee and flower
pattern created and handpainted by Fenton designer CC Hardman,
began as a gold Ruby core cased in Milk glass; a Black glass ring
was added to the six-point crimp, and a Black glass handle was
skillfully twisted and applied by veteran basket-handler Butch
Wright. This special Wild Rose Basket bears the signatures of all
ten Fenton family members, the signature of CC Hardman and the
basket handler mark of Butch Wright, making this handcrafted piece
of artisan glass even more desirable.
The Fenton Foundation of the Fenton Art Glass Company has been
providing philanthropic support for over 50 years. In 2004, the
Fenton Foundation selected the ALS Association as its national
partner. The ALS Association was chosen because of the Fenton
family’s direct experiences with this disease, and to date, Fenton
has donated over $13,000.00 to the ALS Association. The Fenton family will
continue to work in partnership with ALS Association to make advances in the
fight against Lou Gehrig’s disease. For more information about ALS
