Fenton Art Glass Introduces Visiting Glass Artisan Nathan
Sheafor
(Williamstown, WV, May 6, 2008). Recent visitors to Fenton Art Glass
had a special treat as they witnessed the first collaboration
between Fenton USA and visiting glass artisan Nathan Sheafor.
Sheafor is part-owner of The Glass Forge Gallery and Studio in
Grants Pass, Oregon, which manufactures and sells hand-blown glass,
specializing in the Venetian style.
Sheafor’s items were made using recycled Fenton glass to extend
Fenton’s commitment to “green” design. The first grouping will be
available in the Fenton Studio Collection during 2008. Fenton USA
has partnered with Sheafor to create three color treatments for this
Studio Collection. “Nathan’s love of shape and form caught our eyes
at a showing of gallery artists. He adds a new dimension to our
Studio line of featured artists,” said Nancy Fenton, Director of
Design at Fenton Art Glass. Limited, one-of-a-kind vases and bowls
produced during Sheafor’s visit are now on sale in the Fenton Gift
Shop in Williamstown.
According to Sheafor, “The use of color, movement, form, and
composition are key elements in each piece created. ” While at the
Fenton factory in Williamstown, Sheafor worked closely with glass
artisan Frank Workman. “We learned from each other,” Sheafor said.
“The creative process is one that is not easy for me to accomplish.
My experience of the support and togetherness of the Fenton Art
Glass family allowed me to be relaxed and at ease with my decisions.
Continuing to promote and educate the public about this unique and
cherished trait is like the glue that holds collectors and the
public in awe of the 100 plus years Fenton has made art glass.”
Creating spectacular colored art glass for more than a century,
Fenton Art Glass Company represents American handcrafted glass
artistry. Located in Williamstown, West Virginia, Fenton is known
for its wide range of colors, handpainting and handcrafting. For
