Fenton Art Glass Launches
"The Fenton Glass Treasure Hunt" Contest

(Williamstown, W. Va., August 27, 2009): In conjunction with Fenton Family Signing Events held at Fenton dealers in upcoming months, the Fenton Art Glass Company seeks entries in its Fenton Glass Treasure Hunt.

"Fenton started to mark its glass in 1970," said Fenton vice-president of sales Scott K. Fenton. "Many people may have Fenton glass made between 1907 and 1970, but they really don't know exactly what they have. We're inviting them to bring those mystery pieces to the Fenton dealers who are holding Fenton family signing events in the next few months." A Fenton marigold Carnival glass Goddess of Harvest bowl brought $30,000, and a Mosaic candlestick from the 1920s reached $15,000 at auction. Recent pieces made by Fenton master glass artisan Dave Fetty have sold for $750 - $975.
At any given time, thousands of Fenton glass items are listed on eBay. Shown at right is an original Marigold pitcher and tumbler in Butterfly and Berry pattern, circa 1910.

Fenton dealers and Fenton family members will help identify glass items on the date of each Fenton family signing event. Everyone is encouraged to bring in glass items even if they aren't sure it's made by Fenton. Prizes will be awarded for rare, old or particularly interesting Fenton pieces as determined by each dealer and Fenton family member, and the winners from each dealer will go on to the national contest for a chance to win one of two $500 shopping sprees at any Fenton dealer in America.
